The nature in Levi, 172 km north of the Arctic Circle, is pristine and untouched. Here you can discover the so-called wilderness of Lapland. With the fresh air tickling your nose, you will go to the impressive fells, which offer an unusual sight. From the top, there is a wonderful view over Finnish Lapland. In the old pine forests, you will find peace and quiet and get away from everyday stress. The marshland around Levi is an experience in itself. The nearby Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park is also a good place for nature lovers and at the same time, you can learn interesting facts about the flora and fauna as well as the history of the park.
The summer is very special in Levi because the sun shines here continuously for 45 days, illuminating the landscape with a unique ambiance and allowing outdoor activities to take place even at night – no need for torches. Hiking during the nightless nights is an incomparable experience. From the end of August, as the nights grow darker, you will also discover the first rays of the northern lights. Autumn brings Levi the wonderful colors of nature. Forests, valleys and fells appear in vivid shades of red and orange, which enchant the landscape in a very special way. Now is the best time for forest walks, where you can pick berries and mushrooms.

Routes around Levi
More than 70 km of varied and well-marked paths lead through the Levi region. The shortest routes are not even 1 km long, the longest up to 55 km – there is a suitable route for everyone. You can climb up to the fells to enjoy the great views or take a leisurely walk around the mountains. You meet locals and grazing reindeer and you can spot birds like the Siberian Jay. If the routes around Levi are not enough for you, just drive to the nearby Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park and follow the 350 km of marked hiking trails.
Beautiful routes in Levi are the barrier-free Peak Trail with the theme "nature's celestial stories" or the Päiviö trail, which follows the tracks of the Great Shaman. The Ice Age Trail winds its way through the countryside for 9 km and the "Life of the Past" trail attracts history interested and more demanding hikers, as it is 18 km long.
