Long Distance Cycling Hamburg - Copenhagen via the Baltic Coast Cycle Path
It starts with a city tour through Hamburg, goes over old railway lines, the Baltic Sea cycle path Schlewsig-Holstein, with the ferry to Denmark and then along the Østersøruten until you come across the long-distance cycle path Berlin - Copenhagen.
The long-distance cycle path Hamburg - Copenhagen leads along kilometers of beaches, fields and meadows. But also small "hygge" fishing villages and towns and the cities of Hamburg, Lübeck and Copenhagen offer a lot of culture and a lot to see in addition to the landscape.
The route can be driven with an e-bike and in good condition within a week. Those who plan more time get a lot to see and still have time for a day on the beach or in the Geocenter on Mön.

Turn-by-turn directions
From Rödby, the route follows the Østersøruten to Nyköbing / Falster. On this section you follow the signs for the national Danish cycle route N8.
Then you continue on the Berlin-Copenhagen cycle route, which is also well signposted.
From Altona railway station it´s just a little bit downhill to the river Elbe. Continue to St. Pauli Landungsbrücken. Through the city you then cycle to Oststeinbek and take the bridge over the Autobahn A24. At Stemwarde you take the well-developed cycle path on the old railway line to Papendorf. From there the path cuts off across Großensee and Lütjensee and passes a place called Pfefferberg where there is a small hidden bathing area. In Lütjensee-Dwerkaten the route returns to the old railway line of the Royal Prussian Railway. Here the cycle path is signposted as "BahnRadWeg B" and there is a well-developed gravel road that leads to Bad Oldesloe.
From Bad Oldesloe it goes to Lübeck over small paths. In Lübeck you pass the old town and then along the Trave to Travemünde, where the long-distance cycle path Hamburg - Copenhagen meets the Baltic Sea coast cycle path (Ostseeküsten Radweg) and is well signposted to Puttgarden.
In Puttgarden, take the ferry to Rödby.
In Denmark we follow the signs of the N8 Østersøruten until Nyköbing. From there we follow the signs for the Berlin-Copenhagen long-distance cycle route northwards.

Public transport
Public-transport-friendly

Hamburg can be reached from all directions via the highways / Autobahn A1, the A7 and the A24.Parking
Parking is difficult in Altona. But if you are lucky you will find something in the area. Do not park at the banks of the river Elbe, as flooding can occur there. Driving and parking are not recommended in Copenhagen - it is a very bike-friendly city.Coordinates
