The route follows the beautiful archipelago road (road no 749) and leads you through the marine landscape with bridges, summer cottages, saunas and green fields. Enjoy the peaceful countryside! The cycle path and small roads leads to the local village of Öja, where you can stop for refreshments in Cafe Bryggan, a cosy summertime cafe by the sea. The small marina is popular also by locals arriving with their boats or kayaks. There is swimming place by the café and few more along the route as well. After a pleasant stop you can continue the trip back to city centre.
There are interesting hiking trails and sights in the Öja historical archipelago area. Sometimes live music at Café Bryggan, check their summer programme.
The total length of the circle route is appr. 35 km, and the route is well maintained and relatively easy without elevation.

Turn-by-turn directions
From Kokkola market place follow the cycle road by the water Sunti to Pohjoisväylä road. You will pass the historical old town area, Neristan with its wooden houses, as well as some of the parks in the city center. Follow the Pohjoisväylä / Rantatie road in direction of Pietarsaari, and use the cycle/pedestrian road beside it. The road leads you to the archipelago with road bridges and nice views to the summer villas located by the sea. You will drive this road about 12 km, and turn right to Öjantie road. Continue this road about 4 km, and you´'ll reach the summer cafe Bryggan. There is also a small beach for swimming by the cafe. After a break continue the Öjantie road forward. The road gets you back to Rantatie main road. Turn left (direction Kokkola) and drive back to city centre.
If you are planning a longer trip, the Rantatie Road (749) continues to the city of Pietarsaari. the distance between Kokkola and Pietarsaari is about 35 km. After the stop in Cafe Bryggan drive Öjantie road until you get to Rantatie crossing. Turn then right towards Pietarsaari. There is a cycle / pedestrian road.
