Bike rides in Gran Canaria

For this cycle route you need an off-road bike. I used my Cannondale Trail 4 Hard tail. The route starts in Playa del Inglés and proceeds up the GC-60 towards Fataga. However, just passed the Km36 sign turn left on to a dirt road GC-602 sign-posted Presa Ayagaures. This off-road route to Ayagaures is known as the Grand Canyon route. At Ayaguares just by the church take a right turn on to the GC-503 which takes you up to Mirador de Ayagaures and then on to Monte León and Montaña La Data. At the end of the GC-503 take a sharp right then a sharp left and follow the road up to El Tablero. At this junction where you turn left there is a camel breeding farm which you can see into through the gates and say Hi to all the camels. From here it's a bit complicated but follow the route on the map. Eventually after passing an interesting house with a beautiful floral display you will come down to the coast at Meloneras. Cycle along the sea-front promenade to the Faro de Maspalomas and on back to Playa del Inglés. A fantastic 60 km ride with mountain and ocean views. The ascent on this route (1300 m) will deter those not fit enough.
