Long-distance hikes in Slovakia

The 27th section of the Blue Trail guides you to the northern part of Zemplén. You will visit one of the most beautiful medieval castles of the country, climb to Milic Group on the state border and turn back to Hollóháza to finish at the trailhead of the Blue Trail.

The 24th section of the Blue Trail takes you to region of a unique character. After traversing grassy rolling hills the trail enters a karst plateau with rock outcrops and dolines. The insight into the underground world of karst will make your hike a memorable experience.

The North Trail of Via Czechia is the longest hiking route in Czechia. The 1,060 km long trail connects westernmost and easternmost points of Czechia and climbs to highest mountain of the country, which is Sněžka (1,603 m). North Trail passes through 18 mountain ranges and geographical areas, over 8 protected landscape areas, 2 national parks and countless national nature reserves and natural monuments. If you complete the whole trail, you will have climbed over 50 peaks higher than 1,000 meters and set foot on the highest, lowest, westernmost and easternmost points of Czechia.

The South Trail of Via Czechia is the second longest hiking route in Czechia. The 1,050 km long trail connects easternmost  and westernmost points of Czechia. South Trail passes through 15 mountain ranges and geographical areas, over 6 protected landscape areas, 2 national parks, many historical towns and countless national nature reserves and natural monuments. If you complete the whole trail, you will have climbed over 20 peaks higher than 1,000 meters and set foot on the easternmost, southernmost and westernmost points of Czechia.

Lake tour: from the Polish village Chochołów :) to the area of Oravic lake, to the town called Zuberec, then to  hit the road back to Chochołow by the Oravice area.  

The SNP is a famous and challenging route in Slovakia. It has a long historic backround and its importance in WWII is a source of pride and identity. Someone who walks the SNP often receives the respect of local people and is greeted with a smile and thumb up. In the East the path starts at the Dukla Pass on the border to Poland traverses different mountain ranges with the highest peaks in the Lower Tatras and ends at the border with Austria in Devin just West of the capital Bratislava.

6-7 day hike, but we had to skip a part due to an impassable trail

Another attractive trail leads to  Litvorové pleso  (tarn). It starts in Lysá Poľana and leads through Bielovodská dolina (valley) and Poľana (clearing) under Mt. Vysoká.
