Action and adventure - a tour for big and small

Family excursion through the Olympic Park

 

We, the Wagner family, have heard of the European Championships (EC) in Munich in August 2022 and would now like to explore the area before the actual event. But it's not just us who associate the European Championships with the Olympic Park. Each of us already has different memories of children and young people that make us reminisce about the past.My dad and I will take you on an exciting day trip through the Olympic Park. In the early morning we started with the whole family on board, from Herrsching am Ammersee towards the Olympiapark. After a 40-minute drive with a breakfast break at the bakery, we, Nina and Ben, discovered the impressive Olympic tower and got out of the car with a glow in our eyes. Two separate tours should start from the parking lot at the Olympic Stadium. Grandma Trudi and Grandpa Heinz wanted to take us, their two grandchildren Nina and Ben, on an exciting tour along landmarks close to the ground. Our parents Lisa and Leon, on the other hand, were looking forward to an action-packed tour over the roofs of the Olympic Park - in other words, the exact opposite.

Now join us on our trip with grandpa and grandma.

"Grandma, how much longer will it take? I finally want to see Elsa! ”I said and straightened the glittering Elsa crown. For days I had dreamed of meeting Olaf, Sven and Anna today at the Frozen exhibition in the small Olympic hall, but nothing came of it. "Oh Nina!", Laughed Grandma, "first we go to a place where I have experienced a lot as a young woman." "Yes, Ben, that's exactly where we're going now and we'll be there in 5 minutes," said Grandma. I was totally annoyed and jumped into a puddle. When we arrived at the huge hall, my brother was pretty happy and listened to Grandpa telling him that he had also played ice hockey as a child, but in a different city.

Then grandma revealed her big secret: "Nina and Ben, did you know that your grandma used to ride a racing bike at this very place?" There's only an ice rink here. ”Ben yelled. “The hall is brand new,” Grandma explained to us: “There used to be a racing bike hall here, which was built for the Olympic Games exactly 50 years ago.” It's amazing how old Grandma is, I thought to myself. “ Grandma Trudi, stop telling us so much about the past. Let's go to the Elsa exhibition. ”Grandpa finally understood what was important! We walked for ages even though Grandma said it was only 15 minutes. My feet were already hurting and my crown had slipped out of place too. I asked Grandma when the hall could finally be seen. Grandma explained to me that the hall is under the ground and that we could hardly see it. We entered the building and I immersed myself in my favorite movie.

My whole family met for lunch at the Olympia-Alm, where we hugged each other. Now we had a lot of time to tell each other about our morning. My dad Leon takes you on the adventure he had with mom ... 

"Hey kids, I hope your morning was good. Mom and I have seen so much. First of all, mom could reminisce when we stood in front of the Olympiahalle. You may still remember that she used to be a figure skater. She even took part in competitions in the Olympic Hall."

Then we hiked straight to the Olympiaberg back there, what a view! Can you imagine that we could see all of Munich? ”“ Dad, did you see the Ammersee too? ”Asked the little girl. "No, my darling," I replied, "he's too far away for that." We were able to review our morning over lunch together before the adventure continued. “So kids, let's go! Mom and I have to go on our adventure almost above the clouds! ”I said and pointed to my watch, because we still had a long way to go and had to walk a quarter of an hour to the entrance of the Olympic Stadium. “Goodbye kids, see you later, take care of grandma and grandpa.” And we were gone. We had an exciting Flying Fox tour over the roofs of the Olympic Stadium in front of us. We had heard a lot about the climbing tour on the roof, the impressive view and the feeling of freedom on the steel cable over the lawn. We walked comfortably through the wonderfully green Olympic Park. The closer we got, the more excited we were. Great things were in store for us. And Schwups-Diwups we were already on the roof. Madness, this architecture is original from 1972, the year I was born. Lisa's knees were trembling, but after a kiss her nerves were calmed. We flew over the roof on steel cables, enjoyed the wonderful view of the city and the time without the children. What a feeling of freedom!

After this adrenaline rush, we went back down to earth, much to my sorrow. After this exciting day, the two of us wanted to end the day and walked to our last highlight, the breathtaking Olympic tower. At 181 meters we clinked glasses of champagne and felt like we were on our first date.

On cloud nine we floated back towards the parking lot, where the rest of the family was waiting for us. With a little heavy feet, we walked back a little slower for the last kilometer. The end of a long, eventful day "Dad, you can't imagine how many colorful fish I saw!" I said and showed mom and dad a flyer from SEA LIFE. "And Grandma bought me a stuffed animal that looks like Nemo." Grandpa laughed and raved about the live music in the Theatron.

After our adventure with the fish, Grandma bought us a portion of french fries with ketchup and we sat on the steps of the Theatron to watch the musicians. With my Elsa Krone and my Nemo I got into the car and immediately my eyes closed. And so our day came to an end. Action, fun and adventure - there was something for everyone.
