Rädlergrat (Himmelhorn)
The notorious Rädlergrat on the Himmelhorn in the rear Oytal near Oberstdorf is one of the most beautiful and challenging grass climbing in the Allgäu. Grass flanks of up to 70 ° steepness have to be climbed without a rope (with crampons and grass axe) and rock difficulties up to the 6th degree (UIAA) have to be overcome on the summit wall. There are some old pitons in the rock part. You are over 850 meters in altitude in extremely steep and absolutely risky terrain. Withdrawal is hardly or not at all possible. With the exception of a few pitons, you have to secure by yourself in many places. Therefore you have to be absolutely sure of your acting on the Rädlergrat. However, those who can cope with the difficulties will be rewarded with an extreme, scenic and extremely attractive alpine experience.
