The Kirkkojärvi lake bird tower is located near the center of Hamina on the Kirkkojärvi nature trail, a valuable bird protection area. The bird tower is located in a rare and ecologically valuable wetland of the Natura 2000 bird protection program. The bird tower offers bird watchers the opportunity to see a diverse nesting area of up to 60 species of birds. The signposts introduce the birds of the reedbed and pool such as the Western Marsh Harrier and the Eurasian Bittern and provide informaton about the Kirkkojärvi lake as a wetland.
From the center of Hamina, you can walk along the Kirkkojärvi nature trail to the Kirkkojärvi bird tower. The bird tower can also be your starting point for a 6km nature trail tour.
The observation tower of Katselmankallio opens up an impressive landscape to the mire wilderness of Haapakeidas and the surrounding forests. At the foot of the tower, there is a lean-to shelter, a campfire site and an open wilderness hut.
