The Kuivaketvele tour departs from Vaateranta and circles around the islands of Pien-Saimaa: Vehkasalo, Kuivaketvele and Ruusi Turasalonsaari. The trail is marked with a dip on the beach of Taipalsaari church village, where you can also take a trip. Resting places along the route must be sought from the free beaches with the right every-mans-right. According to Everybody's right, everyone has right to move on the beach and in the nature without causing disturbance and leaving no trace. It is not allowed to go to the summer cottage beaches, even if the residents of the cottages are not visible on the beach.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR SAFETY! There is boat traffic from Vaateranta, and there are also ship routes along the route. Canoeists must give way to other vessels and stay away from the ship routes, keeping close to the shores. Watch out for the waves from large vessels!
It is safest to move in a group if you do not know the terrain or the water area. Before the excursion, it is advisable to acquire the necessary maps and guides and check the weather forecast. Wear sturdy footwear and clothes that suit the weather. It is recommended that you take first aid equipment, rainwear, a spare set of clothes, as well as enough drinks with you, particularly in the summer. Remember to wear a floating vest when boating.
In wet weather and in winter, duckboards, rocks and piers can be slippery.
In an emergency, dial the number 112. Report your location, what has happened and listen to the instructions.
