Astounding art at Villa Barbaro, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Villa Barbaro is a little world full of big surprises. Its appeal is enhanced by the fact that it’s a real home where people live, but it’s open for visitors to explore all year round. It often plays host to events that showcase its remarkable beauty and magical atmosphere in every season of the year. Climbing bignonia, wisteria and roses will welcome you to the entrance courtyard. Inside are six rooms frescoed by Paolo Veronese, which form the artist’s largest and most significant work of this kind. You’ll feel like you’re entering an ancient world filled with courtiers and gods. Unwind near the Nymphaeum or look to the horizon and admire the rows of age-old lime trees stretching as far as the eye can see in the surrounding countryside. Finally, relax in the wine shop and fill your glass with the products of the old winery, which was opened back in 1570!
