The Ruokolahti Hiking Trail (Ruokolahden retkeilyreitti) provides a varied landscape: it travels along eskers, climbs to high ridges and runs along the shores of many of the 500 lakes of Ruokolahti. The network of the hiking trails in Ruokolahti consists of two trails that can be made into a 40-km-long tour. The Rajojen reitti Hiking Trail branches off from Mustakulkkula towards Pohjalankila and further on to Haukkavuori Hill in Rautjärvi.
The Syväjärven kierros Trail starts by the sports field in the municipal centre of Ruokolahti. This popular trail is 18 km long. The most gorgeous section of the trail is a path running on a high cliff, close to Lake Syväjärvi. Thereafter, you will soon arrive at the Myllykoski lean-to shelter.
The Mustakulkkula Trail (Mustakulkkulan reitti) branches off from the southern end of Lake Syväjärvi. A longer tour runs via Lake Kaiturinjärvi and Mustakulkkula. The Haaroinsalmi lean-to shelter is located on the shore of Lake Kaiturinjärvi.
