Ilkonsaari Island
On Ilkonsaari Island, you will find a place for recreation in the middle of Lake Saimaa. Explore the island’s varied natural features by walking along a 1.5-km-trail that starts from the rocks at the southern end of the island and leads to a sandy isthmus in the north. Along the trail, you will also see Orthodox tsasounas that represent the traditions of the Orthodox Church from Greece all the way to the Norwegian border in the north. The chapels are open to the representatives of all religions, as well as to non-religious people.
At the southern end of Ilkonsaari Island, there is a pier to which larger vessels can moor. There are buoys on the other side of the pier for boats. On the eastern shore of the island, boaters are served by the Särkänsatama harbour, where the draught by the pier is less than 1 m during low water levels. There are campfire shelters in both harbours.
Canoeists can land on the sandy beaches in the mid-part or northern end of the island.

It is recommended that large boats arrive at the steep rocky shore of the southern end of the island. There are some mooring rings and buoys available. You must monitor the direction and speed of the wind in this location! Smaller boats are able to arrive at a quay on the eastern shore of the island. Watch out for rocks on the northeastern side of the island (nautical chart) and the marked rock in front of the quay. The draught by the quay during low water levels is less than one metreCoordinates
