Triglav National Park covers almost the entire Slovenian part of the Julian Alps. It is a typical Alpine park with Slovenia’s highest mountains. The Triglav National Park, named after Mount Triglav, the highest mountain and national symbol of Slovenia, is the only national park in Slovenia. Its protection started in 1924 when the first protected was established as the Alpine Conservation Park in the Triglav Lakes Valley. The biodiversity is among the highest in the Alps due to the geological composition of the soil and the mixing of the impacts of the climate between the Alps and the Mediterranean. There is the European watershed in the park running between the Adriatic and the Black Sea.
Itinerary:
Day 1
We start normally at 6.00 o'clock in the morning with a short vehicle transfer from Bled to Krma Valley (50 minutes) where we begin our trek in a steep sided valley walking along a forest trail which takes us to Kredarica hut (2515m). There we make a short break recovering from our exertions and then ascend to the ridge making our way via Mali Triglav onto Triglav summit (2684m). From the last hut to the top you can expect 1,5 hour long via ferrata - the most difficult section when climbing Triglav. Upper part of the climg has many exposed sections and there is often slipery. Climbing this section you realize booking a tour with the mountain guide with rope, helmet and via ferrata set you are attached on was really a great decision:) On the summit of Mount Triglav stands Aljaž tower, a storm shelter and a triangulation point. In good weather conditions you will get the chance to enjoy one of the most spectacular views in Slovenia. After the mandatory photo shoot at the top we start with descend back to our overnight stop at the Kredarica hut. (Duration: approx. 8 hours of walking without rests in total, +1.955m / - 350m altitude meters).
Day 2
Setting out from the Kredarica hut we enjoy spectacular views towards the western Julian Alps as we make our way via Krma Valley again where our van is parked. Duration: approx. 6 hours of walking without rests, -1.600 altitude meters. Transfer back to Bled and end of the trip.
